Home Style Sambar:

Mixed VEG Sambar:

1.Toor dal 2 small cup.
2.Tamarind Amla  size.
3.Onion 2 medium size(sliced).
   Small onion 10 no.
4. Drumstick(Murungaikai) 1 no.
5.Brinjal (Kathirikai)3 no.
5.Ladies finger(Vendaikkai) 4 no.(cut in to medium size)
6.White Radish (Mullangee)1 small size(Nicely sliced).
7.Small carrot 1 Small.
8.Broad Beans (Avarakkai).4 no.(Cut in to medium size).
9.Garlic 6 pods and Green chilly 2 slited.
10..Sambar powder 2  tbsp.
11.Chilly powder 1 tbsp.
12.Coriander powder 1/2 tbsp.
13.Turmeric powder 1/2 + 1/2 tbsp.
14.Coriander leaves(chopped).

              For Seasoning:

1.Cooking oil 2 tbsp.
2.Mustard seed 2 tbsp.
3.Fenugreek(methi) seed 1 tbsp.
4.Asafoetida(perunkayam) 1 pinch.
5.Curry Leaves,2 Red chilly.

Soak tamarind in warm water for 15 minutes. Get pulp using 1 cup of water.
Pressure cook the Toor dal with enough amount of water and garlic pods,1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder and 1/2 pinch asafoetida.

In a deep pan ,Heat 2 tbsp of oil.
Add mustard seed and fenugreek seed.When they stop crackling add Curry leaves and 2  dry red chilly.
Add the sliced onions and saute for few minutes and add the chopped tomatoes,cook for 2 minutes.
Add all the vegetables and green chilly.(Cut the Vegetables in to medium size).sprinkle little salt on the vegetables ,mix it well.
Now add 1/2 cup water and cook with closed lid.
After few minutes add all the dry powder and the tamarind pulp .
Mash the cooked dal and add to the mixture.
Cook  till the vegetables become soft .
Boil for about 5 minutes.
Add Chopped Coriander Leaves.
Home style Sambar is ready.
Serve Hot with white rice ,Dosa ,Idly and  Pongal.
